After having used an iPhone 4 since late 2010, I’ve switched to a HTC One.
The iPhone has been a great phone to have in my pocket every day for 2/3 years. It was a *major* upgrade from the HTC Hero that I used pervious. The Hero used Android 1.5, which I couldn’t stand.
The HTC One, however, is on Android 4.1.2, which is great. It looks a lot cleaner, especially on the 1920x1080p display… which is the same resolution as my 32” Samsung display… holy fucking shit I should buy a 4k display to make up for this.
Using a remote desktop on the One is great because of this high-res goodness.
The camera is a bit hit and miss. The Zoe feature, which takes a short video when you press the shutter button, then allows you to edit individual faces to moments when people smile. Or you can use it erase annoying tourists from the background of your photo. Great stuff.
They have dropped the megapixel count in favour of an “ultra pixel” camera, which is supposed to pick up light better. I’ve only tried it out in low-light settings a couple of times, but it does seem a lot better than the iPhone 4’s camera in that regard. The lack of megapixels does become painfully apparent once you try to crop or zoom into images.
All together I’m very happy with the HTC One, although am I kind of jealous of the Samsung S4’s camera. And the HTC sync software is a bit shit. But AirDroid fixes that. Kinda. NO REGRETS.
